Studio tour — Cycle Studio in Mixmag Adria
In May 2023 Mixmag Adria published a studio tour of Cycle Studio, the music production, sound design and podcast recording space on Kennedy Square in Zagreb. Written by Arsen Pavešić with Jan Kinčl, the piece traces how the studio grew from a single small room into an 80m2 space opened to outside clients in early 2020, and then walks through the equipment, unit by unit, in Jan’s own commentary.
What the piece covers
The tour opens with the studio itself — main control room, a recording room that doubles as a second control room, lounge and kitchen — and a client list that has come to include Diesel, Hrvatski Telekom, Njuškalo, Red Bull and Konzum, alongside agencies, musicians and podcasters. It also introduces the team around Jan, including producer and engineer Lovro Baletić.
The bulk of the piece is gear: Klein & Hummel O300 monitors, the Akai S900, S1100 and MPC Live samplers, a Filtek DV1175 converted into a summing mixer, MCI JH500 EQ, SSL G Series bus compressor, ADR Express Limiter, the Yamaha TX81Z and Reface CP, Roland Juno 106, TR8S and RS-101, and a Mackie CR1604-VLZ — each with notes on where it earns its place in a session.
