Interview — Glazba.hr ahead of the Get Physical party in Rijeka

A short interview ahead of the Croatia, Get Physical! party at Crkva in Rijeka, where Jan Kinčl played alongside Roland Leesker and Andrea Ljekaj. The peg is “Suede”, his Elector-awarded track on the fourth EP in the Berlin label’s Croatia, Get Physical! series, curated by Ljekaj.

What the interview covers

Jan recounts how “Suede” grew out of live improvisations with Regis Kattie, sparked by Mike Huckaby’s “Melodies From The Jazz Republic”, with the working title taken from the Puma Suede trainers he wore. He talks about the period spent living between Zagreb and Berlin — among the most intense of his last decade — why he returned to Zagreb, what it means that a label of Get Physical’s standing is giving a small scene like Croatia’s a platform, and his respect for Ljekaj as curator. For the Rijeka night he promises house, techno and everything in between.
