In the announcement of the previous CYCLE party at Peti Kupe, we said that this season we would be presenting our intimate selection of the best of today's house/techno DJ scene. At that party, Aleqs Notal showed what masterclass DJing looks like and treated a packed club to hours of non-stop dancing. Now it is time for one of the symbols of US house music - Kai Alcé!

Kai is one of those artists who, through decades of presence on the scene, transcend trends and become symbols of clubbing culture as a whole. Although born in New York, his musical universe was shaped in Detroit, at one of the key places of modern music – the Music Institute club. His affirmation as a producer and DJ, however, began in Atlanta in the early 2000s, with a release on Brett Dancer's Trackmode label. Kai's vision of house music was clear from that very first record, along with the influences of established legends such as Theo Parrish, Moodymann and Omar S. A meteoric rise on the global house scene followed, with releases for some of the most important labels of today (Mahogani, Real Soon, FXHE..), and Kai's name became synonymous with a very specific approach to soulful dance music. Only a handful of producers and DJs have such a recognisable signature. Sophisticated and classy, but uncompromisingly funky.
With the launch of his own label NDATL, Kai reaffirmed the position of vocal house as an essential part of the genre, with releases by key artists (Larry Heard, Mr G, Theo Parrish, Claude Young, Mike Huckaby…) and proverbially excellent DJ friendly remixes found in the bags of most of today's top DJs. It is precisely this cross-section of music released on NDATL that offers insight into the universe of Kai as an exceptional DJ, equally “at home” at Panorama Bar, Paris's DJOON or an LGBTQ ballroom extravaganza. The part of the Zagreb audience that caught one of Kai's previous visits to Zagreb had the chance to see this for themselves. For those who weren't there (and those who were) - this is a unique opportunity to witness the extravagant talent of this house music great.
Kai Alcé will be joined by CYCLE hosts Jan Kincl and Matija Duić, and the night will be opened by young, up and coming DJ Lovro Baletić.
